Mastitis & Milk Quality

Investigations into mastitis issues on farm vary from providing milk culture services and over the phone advice to full mastitis and Bulk Milk Cell Count (BMCC) investigations. The practice is heavily involved in the Count Down Down Under (CDDU) extension program for improvement of mastitis control and milk quality.

Significant interactions occur with TVG and other service providers in the milk harvesting field to ensure the most successful outcome for clients. Milking machine installation and maintenance businesses, milk factory field staff and other consultants for part of the mastitis management team.

Members of the practice regularly present courses to train other professional advisors in mastitis management through CDDU. They also run CDDU farmer short courses that are designed to enable farmers to asses their own mastitis control and develop a management plan to achieves and maintain consistently high levels of milk quality.
